New Reformation

Welcome to the Young Reformed Awakening

Here is a painting that I recently did for my watercolor class. Upon completing the painting, I was inspired to write this creative response in order to glorify God. I hope that whoever reads this is encouraged by it.

Promise of a New Tomorrow

Oh what a sight!
My eyes have never beheld anything so lovely as this beacon of light that shines for the world;
That fills the sky with gleam and my mind with wonder.
We don’t ever think about it.
We just go about our days, only seeing that which stands before us.
But then when it does happen, we stand back in awe and amazement.
It is the most glorious time of the day.
As the last bits of light slip behind the horizon.
You are walking along, and can’t help but to keep glancing back at this ever-changing sight.
No instant the same as the last.
Down, down it goes as the last final glimpse fades away and gives way to darkness.
And just as quickly as it came, it is gone again.
As if it never happened at all.
Could it all have been just a dream?
That magnificent beauty that steals your breath away.

But just as the faithfulness as the coming of a new day, it will return again tomorrow.
Never the same, but just as breath-taking, if not more so.
And we look forward to that time when we can again catch a glimpse of this miraculous sight
That holds our hearts captive.
Oh, how I am drawn to it.
I do not dare look away for fear that I will miss even just the slightest shift.
But even just for those few moments, I am filled with hope.
Hope for the promise of a new tomorrow.
That even though this day has been filled with nothing but trouble,
Those troubles will set with the setting of the sun.
As I rest throughout the dark night, may my mind be at peace.
Peace in knowing that a new day will rise with the coming of the morn.

Just as I am given hope with the beginning and ending of each new day,
Let me also find hope in knowing that it is You who are in control.
For it is You that tells the sun when to rise and when to set.
Time is at Your beckoning call and You hold all things in Your hands.
Let me seek You during these times so that I might find comfort in Your midst.
For though this light is constantly moving and ever-changing, You are not.
And even as glorious as this sight is, how much more are You?
For there is no such comparison.

For You alone are the Great Artist.
The One who paints these majestic skies with their intensive vibrance.
For without You, there would be no inspiration.
We would have no understanding of what should be thought of as beautiful.
For it is through Your work that we see and begin to comprehend what true beauty really is.
So as I basque in the beauty of this warm light,
let me also basque in Your glory,
So that my heart may be filled with joy.
Let my heart be as light, so that it too may be a beacon of light
to shine against the darkness of this barren world.

Where does my hope come from? My hope comes from you, maker of Heaven, Creator of the Earth.
For do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough troubles of its own.
