New Reformation

Welcome to the Young Reformed Awakening

Hi guys, looks like many of you know each other, but I think it would be most helpful if everyone could introduce themselves. Where you're from, what you do with your life, where you go to church and anything else interesting about yourself. Perhaps mentioning your fave books and sermons would be helpful as well.

Glen’s statements in brackets, my response below his, unbracketed.

[[[[[[[[[Since character is not relevant (according to your view), why does it matter what the character of Morey's victims is? Is this not the same scenario?]]]]]]]]]

I never said people shouldn’t listen to YOUR ideas on other topics or that they should watch out for YOU in general. I am addressing what is currently been expressed. If Morey got on here and was doing like you, then he’d get a rebuke from me as well.

[[[[[Think logically man, a lot of people have left. If you brush aside everything they have to say you are only left with the word of the people who are still there. And they are there because they haven't seen the vices that myself and others have seen.]]]]]]

How about you thinking logically. Maybe the half that left havne't seen the depth of his virtues, maybe they are the crooked ones, maybe they aren't gracious enough. It could just as easily go the other way around (the people who left, did so hastily and will never find out that Morey isn’t like they judged him to be, because they will never go back). There are many variables that come into the emotions and psychology to say this is an issue that can logically be concluded upon.

[[[[[[Tom, bro, FCC is not the "whole church body." That is cult talk my friend.]]]]]]]]]

I don’t mean that in the cult sense. What I mean is, did the other people in the church, in like suit slam your character as he did? And if not, then why leave the rest of the CONGREGATION (not church in the grand picture of the bride) over his assessment of you?

[[[[[[[(I would also point out that all I initially said was that I did not respect Morey. I justified its relevance to the topic because it was part of my story I told as I introduced myself. Y'all are the one's making it into a big deal here, not me, haha)]]]]]

I call you out on this bull, and use your earlier statements to show you said more than just that, and that you made it as big a deal as we did in response. I for one think it is a big deal that you behaved as you have here. Your earlier statments:

[[[[[I say this here because it is part of my life's story and members here who are not from SoCal deserve to hear the truth about this guy. Yes, he is reformed theologically, but his life is a mismatch of pastoral abuse and financial shadiness.]]]]]

So why exactly would you be concerned about letting people in on your nasty opinion of Morey when they are not from SoCal. They won’t sit under him, so what’s to warn about? Do you want them to miss out on the fruit of his ministry which is what caused you at one point to think of him in “the top of your list,” all because you’re an angry. That is selfish, and you show your pride needs to be checked.

[[[[[[[As far as which church I go to, I am proud to say that I am no longer a member of FCC (Morey's church)!]]]]]]]]

Give me a flipping break! First it isn’t or wasn’t “Morey’s” church. He is not into slavery. The church is the body, that being the case, your testimony shows that you are glad to be away from everyone else there. You are “proud” to be away from Morey, which is part of your problem, you viewed Morey too highly and subliminally thought of him as “the church.” At least it seems that way to me.

[[[[[[please email me privately (glennhendrickson@gmail.com).]]]]]]

If you want a private conversation, then you should stop making it public here. As long as you respond publically, so will i. When you stop, I will. If you don’t care to talk at all about it, I will cease to care as well. If the moderator removes my comments when i am being perfectly fair and biblical, then i will remove myself from this forum. Water off of a duck.

I'm a wife and a mommy of 5 kids, the oldest of which is 5yrs old. So, yeah, kids are pretty much what I do with my life =) My hubby, kids and I are members of the Oceanside URC. I fancy myself to be a musician and an artist. I love *almost* all kids of music, from screamo to classical. I play, sing and write. As far as art goes, I enjoy photography, painting, drawing, etc. I am currently whittling a stick I just got from Sequoia National Park.

Welcome Duma. As the official guy here (don't really have a title) I wanted to welcome you. Thanks for joining and tell all your friends. As for churches in Pasadena, I'd recommend you look up Founders web-site or Nine marks web site. However, check out Sovereign Grace in Pasadena and I"m sure you're not that far from John Mac Arthur's church in Van Nuys. Let me know how your search goes.

Hello Duma.

Sovereign Grace Church of Pasadena
http://www.sovgracepasadena.org
I am not familiar with this church at all, but found it on the Sovereign Grace Ministries page. A couple of my friends visited the extension in Irvine. I don't recall them saying anything against it, I just know they chose a different church that is closer and a lot of their friends already attended. It looks worth checking out.

Then these i found on the 9Marks church search (the church a few of us on here go to is listed on that site too):

Amazing Grace Congregational Church (Arcadia)
http://churchsearch2.9marks.org/viewItem.php?id=865

Hope Bible Church (Glendale)
http://churchsearch2.9marks.org/viewItem.php?id=1437

First Chinese Baptist Church (LA 90012)
http://fcbc.org

Sovereign Grace (LA 90013)
http://www.sovereigngracela.com

Welcome to the reformation and may God be with you in your search for a church home.

So I just joined this social network, here's a little about me.

I'm Patrick, 21, live in Uniontown, PA. I got saved in February of 2008 and have been learning ever since. Because God has blessed me with an ability to teach, I have served as a Sunday School teacher and youth pastor at local Baptist churches. After being a youth pastor for almost a year, I became Reformed through much studying...it caused quite an uproar with my mentor- pastor and the whole church and I stepped down in June 09. I'm now teaching a Bible study at my house and attending Baptist Bible College in Clark's Summit, PA in their online program for a Bachelor of Bible degree. I eventually plan to get a Master of Divinity and possibly other degrees.

I love learning, I'm almost always reading. Some favorite books are Grudem's Systematic Theology, God of Promise, Believer's Baptism, Spurgeon on the Holy Spirit, Knowing God, The Attributes of God, Institutes of the Christian Religion, The Potter's Freedom, etc.

I'm a big fan of hymns and Reformed rap. I plan on eventually going into some kind of teaching ministry, most likely a professorship. God bless! :)
